Pirate swimmers place well, Sloan medals twice
by John Heglie In its inaugural season debut, the Polson swim team added a couple of other firsts to its list. Due to scheduling changes related to the virus pandemic, the Pirates became host for the State A-B swim meet held at Mission Valley Aquatics and Fitness the first weekend of March. They also crowned one of their own twice state champion when Mason Sloan captured medalist honors with first place finishes in both the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Trey Wyman would place fifth in the 100 backstroke and finish sixth in the 50 freestyle. A trio of Lady Pirate swashbucklers just missed making the grid. Aspen McKee was just seven hundredths of a second from placing in the 200 freestyle and less than nine hundredths off the pace from placing in the 500 freestyle. Hope Morrison was a mere three tenths of a second from squeezing into the top six in the girls 50 freestyle and less than five tenths off the pace in the 100 butterfly.
